Referred to Assignments
Illinois Senate, Senate Rules, 104th General Assembly
Routine: every bill and every floor amendment in the Senate goes to the Committee on Assignments first, which decides where it goes next.
After its first reading, every Senate bill and every House bill arriving in the Senate is automatically referred to the Committee on Assignments, which may refer it to a committee (Senate Rule 3-8(a)).
Floor amendments, motions for final action and conference committee reports go to the Committee on Assignments when they are filed, and the Senate may not consider one until the Committee has approved it for consideration (Rule 3-8(b)).
The Committee on Assignments has six members — four appointed by the Senate President and two by the Minority Leader (Rule 3-5).
