Passed Both Houses
Illinois House and Senate, Illinois Constitution
Both chambers have passed the same text. The bill now goes to the Governor, who can sign it, veto it, or let it become law without a signature.
A bill becomes law only with a majority of the members elected to each chamber (Illinois Constitution, Article IV, Section 8(c)). Once both have agreed on the same text, the Speaker and the Senate President sign it to certify that the procedural requirements were met (Section 8(d)).
It must then be presented to the Governor within 30 calendar days (Section 9(a)).
